How to make English mutton sandwiches. Chop enough cold boiled mutton to make a pint (± 1000 ml) . Add two tablespoonfuls of capers, a half teaspoonful of salt, six tablespoonfuls of cream or olive oil and a saltspoonful of black pepper. Mash carefully and put between layers of buttered bread. A good idea is to put the mixture between two leaves of lettuce so that the bread does not absorb all the moisture of the mixture.  The is especially handy if you know the sandwiches will not be eated emmediatly.
