Swiss schmierkase sandwiches recipe

This Swiss schmierkase Sandwich recipe will start your taste buds going. This is how to do it:

  • 1/2 pound of ordinary schmierkase into a bowl, rub it perfectly smooth adding 1 teaspoonful at a time
  • 4 tablespoonfuls of thick cream
  • 2 tablespoonfuls of melted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoonful of salt
  • 1 saltspoonful of black pepper.
Spread thin slices of bread with the cheese mixture and place a layer of pumpernickel or rye bread on top. spread another layer of cheese, and on top of that another layer of white bread and butter, press lightly together. Garnished with cress.

In arranging them for serving, put a layer of sandwiches and a layer of cress all through the basket or dish.
